The Infant Family Program (IFP) at EPU was established in 1979 to provide support to families and assistance to infants born with disabilities or conditions that are known to impact development.

Services are based on the unique needs of each child and family, and are guided by an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Each family and child in the Infant Family Program at EPU has a Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator is the primary contact person working closest to the family and child to make sure all the goals of the IFSP are met.

The Infant Family Program at EPU provides a wide range of services:

• Home visits
• Center-based services
• Parent groups
• Parenting Education classes
• Transition assistance when your child reaches age three and is ready to move to another early childhood program
• "Graduate Academy" classes for parents to learn about next steps for their child’s programs and how to be their child’s voice in school settings
• Community-based services in the family's natural environment, including child care settings
• Developmental assessments
• Speech and language assessments
• "Tot Talk" classes for children with language delays
• Occupational therapy consults, evaluation and therapy
• Physical therapy consults,
• Transportation to and from EPU if needed
• Infant massage classes
• SCERTS Class for children with communication and self-regulation difficulties

Is there a cost?
There is no direct cost to families or children; however, children must be referred by Central Valley Regional Center, which funds EPU to provide early intervention services.

Do you provide services to rural areas?
EPU serves families throughout Fresno County through home visitation and the provision of transportation to families so that children can attend play groups and parents can attend parent groups. EPU maintains a satellite program in Firebaugh that provides a full range of services every Friday. This outreach program is located at the United Methodist Church in Firebaugh.
