Supplemental Security Income is a governmental program that pays a monthly check to adults and children who have a disability and does not have a lot of family income. If your child is diagnosed with a hearing loss, SSI will be granted upon your financial report (income, assests, savings). Your will then become the one who will oversee your child's SSI until he/she is 18 years old. SSI funds can be used at your discretion to pay for food, housing, supplies for your child or family.
Who can get SSI?
If your child qualifies for SSI
Your child may also qualify for Medi-cal health insurance. Medi-cal helps pay for doctor and hospital bills.
